Once he turned three, Cole was no longer able to get services through the Infant Toddler Program where was getting speech therapy. They had us look into the preschool that was offered through the school district. They weren't sure if he was eligible to get in or not, but we tried anyways. We were lucky enough to get in, with his heart condition being a main factor. Cole has made leaps and bounds in every area, mainly speech and social. His teacher, Mrs. Barrand, told me that when he first started he wouldn't participate in any of the activities. By the time he graduated, they considered him one of the 'peer models' that would be an example for the rest of the children in proper behavior. I really struggled sending him on the bus since he was so young still, but his driver, Ms. Robyn, was so awesome and made sure that he felt happy and safe. We both cried the first several times he left for school, but he came to love riding the bus. When I was so worried at first, his teacher assured me that he would grow to love it and that it was everyone's favorite part of school. I'm so glad she was right!

January 2011
I remember how excited Cole was when he was finally tall enough to turn the lights on and off. He would move his stool back and forth between all the light switches practicing. |

Cole wanted to try the top of the piece of celery that I cut off. Such a nerd! |

My mom found Elmo bath color tablets for Cole. The first time we used them, he was scared of fizzing tablet and wouldn't get in! He warmed up after a while, though. |
