With five weeks left until baby boy #3 comes, I made myself a rather long list of stuff I wanted to get done before he arrives. Catching up on my blog was one of them, and definitely the easiest, seeing how I can do it from my couch. It will be the first to be crossed off, then I'll have to start getting more serious. So much to do, so little motivation. I have definitely been using pregnancy as an excuse to procrastinate. I know that if I would just get up and start moving, I would be able to get a lot done, but once I sit down, it's hard to convince myself to get back up!
This pregnancy hasn't been nearly as rough as the previous two. I was only really sick for 2-3 weeks, as opposed to the 18 with Cole and the 10 with Connor. I have been a lot more uncomfortable, though, with sciatic nerve pain and round ligament pain. I thought it would be easier to be pregnant during Idaho's extra long winter, but I've decided that summer is much better; more activities to do to keep distracted and you don't have to bend down to pull boots on. The next five weeks should go pretty fast, though. Theresa will be here in about two weeks, and she'll stay with us for a week or so. Then I'll have two weeks to get all my baby stuff out and ready. I'll use these next two weeks to catch up on homework, organizing, and a few other things.
We are *hopefully* signing the contract to start building our house this Friday, when Chris returns from the fire department. It's been a very long process between talking to different builders about different plans and looking at houses already built. I'm relieved that it is all hopefully over. We were lucky that the lot we really wanted in Belmont, that was previously being sold, fell through. It's a little larger than the other one we were looking at, and doesn't have neighbors directly behind us. There's a cute little park in Belmont that we are excited to be able to walk to. I've been thinking about colors a little bit, but will probably leave most of the stressing to Chris. We have the same taste, for the most part, which makes it much easier on me.
Connor is making us laugh daily. Rather than hide and seek, he says "hide in the sink." He is scared of heffalumps, and every time he hears a noise, he says it's a heffalump. He won't go in his room or his bathroom if the lights are off, and sometimes he will come running with a look of sheer terror on his face, saying he heard something in his room and it's a heffalump. One night, he woke up crying. I went in to check on him, and he told me that a wolf woke him up. I got him to go back to sleep, only to have him wake up about ten minutes later, saying the wolf woke him up again. We talked about how all the wolves had to go home to go to sleep, too, so there were no wolves around to wake him up. Ten minutes later, he was up again. This time it was a dinosaur. His little mind is pretty creative. With potty training, we are very open about all bodily functions, so sorry if this, or any of the pictures, bother anyone! While on his potty, Connor told me, 'There's something coming out of my bum... it's a snake!' He also told Cole 'Excuse your bum, Cole' after he farted. When he gets wedgies, he tells me his underwear is 'falling into my bum.' All these little things just make me laugh, and I don't want to forget what a little nerd he is!
Cole has been counting syllables for just about everything he says. He will ask a question, then repeat the question while counting. He will also just sit still and count. I hope that he isn't too bored in kindergarten. He also is always asking how to spell different words, and then telling me which words he can spell. We are working on getting him to eat his dinner faster. He is such a slow eater at night! He will be at the table for an hour sometimes before he finishes. In the mornings, I have been letting him play games like Candy Crush on my phone. He is really good at them; he has passed levels for me that I will have been stuck on for days. I can't wait until he is a little older and we can pull out my old super nintendo and PS2. He loves singing, too. He will sing, 'Everybody, everybody, everybody wants to be a cat,' and Connor will finish with 'Meow, meow!' We haven't watched the Aristocats for a long time, so I'm not quite sure what triggered this, but I love it.
This month Cole succeeded in holding a headstand while counting for 45. He's the only one in his gymnastics class that can do any sort of a headstand. He's pretty proud!
Cole can't quite get his head off the floor for a bridge yet. Hopefully it'll come with more practice!
This was our first trip to the park this year. The weather finally cooperated enough to be able to go outside for a while. Connor was so funny; I think he forgot how much he loves to swing! He laughed and laughed. Cole is getting better at pumping his legs so I don't have to push him.
Connor couldn't get my mints open, so he got creative and used his flosser. It actually worked!
"I blocked you!" It' hard to get around our house sometimes with these hooligans.
Who knew a hand dryer could be so entertaining?!
We went to the library to look into their reading program. Despite how much my boys love books, the fish and the huge ramp that goes from the first to the third floor are always more intriguing.
I tried to take a nap, but it didn't go so well. They both like to sleep right next to you, which is great as long as you don't really need to sleep!
Cole's school had a $.50 pajama day to raise money for a new sign; you could bring $.50 to wear pajamas all day long. He was so excited! He's a lot like me in that we live in our pajamas. As soon as we get home, we both change. He is so fast a lot of the time that he is inside and changed before Connor and I even make it into the house.
We had the girls over for most of the day on a Saturday while Cyrie was out of town. It went by too fast!
