Cole's 6th Birthday in Logan

My childhood friend, Kirsten, was going to be in town for her sister's wedding, so we took a trip down to Logan for Cole's birthday. He got to wake up to streamers to break through and a candle with his breakfast. We sluffed school and headed down to spend the weekend with Kirsten and my step-mom. We met up with Kirsten first, and went to the dollar store to let Cole pick out whatever he wanted, then we went to lunch I believe, and went to my old elementary school to play on the playground. Next we headed for ice cream. We had wanted to go to iJump, or whatever the Logan version is called, but they were closed until 3. We celebrated Cole's birthday with Belen that night at Chuck-a-rama. My dad used to always take us to eat there. Cole likes to get lots of different drinks when we go, and he loves all the dessert options. 

Cole and Connor slept in my old bunk bed. It was fun to watch them figure out the same tricks I used to do on it. They were awfully proud of themselves! There is only tile in Belen's house, so they had fun sliding around everywhere, too. We spent the next day with Belen, and had fun watering her beautiful flowers. Next we went to Alicia's wedding and headed home. It was a fun trip! I wish Kirsten was in town more often!

September 2014 - Kindergarten

Kennedy was the first classmate Cole met and played with. She was in our ward, and we played with her almost every morning for a few weeks before school started. Cole and Connor both adore her. It's not that often that you find a family where you like the mom, the kids, and the way she parents her kids, so when you do, you hold on tight! They also have the right age of kids. We adore this family!

We were told that it may be a good idea to get Cole's vision tested. I want to say it was by the school? I can't remember. We took him in, got his eyes dilated, and let him wear awesome sunglasses to school to keep the light out. He was supposed to name letters and shapes. He saw a bell and said it was a snapchat! I was dying! It did look pretty similar to the snapchat ghost!

When the kids get to school, they all line up outside of the door next to their classroom until the teacher comes out to get them. Since we didn't officially move into our house until the end of September, Cold couldn't ride the bus so I got to drive him to and from school. I love watching him interact with the other kids, and was glad he knew Kennedy as well as he did. I think it helped him transition. His teacher's name is Mrs. Andersen. She isn't your typical warm and fuzzy kindergarten teacher, but he seems to really like her. We picked out some donuts for him to pass out to his class for his birthday. He was a happy boy!

September 2014 - House

It's been fun to watch the progress on our house. Things got a lot more exciting after cabinets started going in! They're definitely my favorite part. We had the builder do all the landscaping this time besides sod. We got the huge rolls that you lay with a tractor. It seemed to go much faster and looked much better! Chris's grandpa was a huge help. He came up and helped cut the sprinkler holes and fit the sod to the curbing. He wanted to surprise Chris the next morning by coming up and finishing it all, but he didn't realize Chris had taken off work to do it. He is such an awesome grandpa. We are definitely lucky to have him! I love how different grass makes a house look.
