August 2013 - Rigby Lake

We got to go camping this month with my mom and Alan, Theresa and Taylie, and Suzanne. It was SO much fun! I really wish we all lived closer together so we could do stuff like this more than a few times a year. I love my family. :)

When we got there, the boys couldn't wait long enough to change into their swim suits before they got into the lake. I have learned from past experiences to always pack several extra outfits when we go camping. They always seem to go through them.

I pulled a camping chair over into the water and sat with them while they played. I was looking at the rocks at the bottom of the lake and noticed a little bump on one. I picked it up to see what it was... it was a snail! We looked a little closer and there was one on like every rock. Cole was pretty excited. Grandma got him a cup and he put a bunch of them in, along with a rock and some moss. He kept them for quite a while until Grandma sneakily released them all back into the lake.

Grandma got this little seat so Taylie could join us all on our bike rides. All the kids loved it. It was a little hard to go at first when Cole was riding in it, but I think it was because he was so tall that it threw the bike off balance more than it did with Connor or Taylie.

Connor fell asleep on a bike ride. His little head kept bumping into my back. He must have been pretty tired!
Cole showed everyone his snail collection several times.

Theresa had always wanted to try a stand up paddle board, so we found a place just down the road from the lake that we could rent one from. I'm so glad we did! The weather wasn't super hot the whole time, so it was nice to be able to play on the water without getting too cold. Paddling is much easier if you are on in alone. Theresa was the only one who managed to paddle with both Suzanne and me on it. I fell in twice and Suzanne fell in three times. Luckily, when I took Cole around, everyone stayed on. Theresa was brave enough to take Taylie out. Maybe next summer I'll give Connor a turn.
