Carson Chad was born on May 6th, 2014 at 2:23 p.m. (I think) He weighed 8 lbs and 4 oz. Chris and I checked into EIRMC at about 7:15. Labor was pretty easy, but I could definitely tell when I was having contractions this time. I never even felt a contraction until after I had Connor and we were nursing. When my epidural was going in, I could feel a lot of twinges on one side. I guess it was going in a little crooked, and it only fully worked on one side. The other side was slightly numb, but not numb enough. When you go into child birth expecting to not feel a thing, having the epidural not completely work is terrible! By the time I had the anesthesiologist come back in, I was already dilated to a ten. He pulled it out a tiny bit and pumped more in me, which started to help after a little while before things got too terrible. Carson had the funniest cry when he came out. While he was in the hospital, his oxygen sats were too low, so they had him spend two nights in the NICU and did a chest x-ray to make sure everything was fine, which it was. He was a pretty mellow baby, and I was so glad that he was out after being so uncomfortable during pregnancy.
Cole wanted to see my IV since he has to get them more than I do. He wanted to know if I had cried or not. It was close, but I managed to hold myself together! I hate being poked. Cole and Connor came in to see us the evening he was born. It was nice to have some family time before any visitors came. We had all been sick the week before he was born, so the boys wore masks for a while. They didn't last long. Just like Connor's birth, Cole was more interested in the bag of Cheetos the hospital had provided for Chris.
