August 2015 - Bear Lake

Theresa's in-laws let us stay in their cabin at Bear Lake for a couple nights. It brought back sooo many childhood memories. We used to go there every summer. I would pull my tube out as far as I could and let the waves bring me back to shore. I remember tons of terrible storms, too, that would blow the tent down flat on top of you. We would all pile into the van for shelter.

This time, we spent plenty of time playing at the lake and we visited all the little shops in Bear Lake, and, of course, got milkshakes. The beach was much better than I had remembered it. It seems like the last few times I went there (10+ years ago) the water was so low you had to walk forever to get to the lake. This time we went to a free beach that had bathrooms and an outdoor shower. You did have to walk a little bit from the parking lot, but it was a cute boardwalk that went through cattails. The beach was shallow forever so you didn't worry about the kids. We blew up out little boat for the first time and went exploring in it. The kids played in the sand for most of the time and took turns with the boat. Carson barely cried the whole time we were at the lake.

The cabin was awesome. Upstairs, there was a king bed, queen bed, and 2 twins. We all slept up there since being together is the best part of trips. In the middle of the night, though, Carson decided to wake up and wouldn't go back to sleep. He kept laying on me, then rolling down toward my feet. It was the longest night ever. I had brought his pack and play, but he didn't sleep in it very well. I ended up bringing him in my bed and putting Connor in the pack and play. Carson and I ended up downstairs for a few hours before he decided to fall asleep. He was definitely tired that whole time, though! Poor baby. He just held his sippy and stared.
